Kimi Antonelli has delivered one of the most extraordinary performances of the 2026 Formula 1 season, winning his home Italian Grand Prix after starting the race from an almost impossible 19th position.

The Mercedes driver entered the weekend facing a major setback after receiving a power-unit penalty, which forced him to begin the race near the very back of the field. However, Antonelli immediately showed that the starting position would not prevent him from fighting for victory.

Despite Ferrari’s difficulties, the spotlight at Monza belonged firmly to Antonelli. The young Mercedes driver turned what appeared to be a compromised weekend into one of the biggest victories of his career.
