Spain Unveils "Plan 2030" to Become Europe's Primary Semiconductor Hub

The Spanish government has officially launched an ambitious industrial strategy, "Plan 2030" aimed at securing a dominant position in the global semiconductor supply chain. Following a high-level meeting in Madrid today, the Ministry of Industry announced a €12 billion investment package to attract major microchip manufacturers to the regions of Catalonia and Valencia. The move is designed to reduce Europe's dependence on Asian chipmakers and capitalize on Spain's growing green energy capacity to power these energy-intensive "Giga-factories."

Industry experts believe this initiative will transform Spain's industrial landscape, creating over 20,000 high-tech jobs within the next four years. By integrating AI-driven logistics with sustainable energy sources, Spain aims to offer the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly chip production environment in the EU. This strategic pivot is expected to boost Spain's GDP by an additional 1.5% and solidify its role as a technological powerhouse in the post-energy-crisis era.
